SID replacement

A number of devices to replace the C64 Sound Interface Device are available. These are based on FPGAs or microcontrollers and are made to be inserted into a socket where a SID would normally go.
Some SID replacements provide additional features, such as two or even three SIDs in a single package, extra voices or FM synthesis.
Available SID replacements[edit | edit source]
Some available SID replacements are:
- SIDKick pico
- SwinSID (limited fidelity and compatibility, no mouse or paddle support)
- FPGASID
- ARMSID and ARM2SID
- X-SID
- Ultimate 64 (on-board SID emulation as well as sockets for SID chips)
